Things to Do
Metal Detecting
For those seeking to find something lost, metal detecting is an activity that can be enjoyed at sand beaches at 11 state parks. Registration is required and allows the user to operate a metal detector on beaches during certain hours throughout the year. The permit is valid for the current calendar year.
State parks and historic sites protect Missouri’s natural and cultural history, so no object of historical or archaeological value or interest may be removed from a state park. If you find such an object while using a metal detector, please immediately notify park staff.
Metal detecting registration is free of charge and can be completed online.
