DESCRIPTION:10/25/2025 | Stockton State Park | Dadeville\, MO\nGrab your Halloween decorations and costumes and come out to Stockton State Park for the Monster Mash Halloween Event.  \nActivities will take place in the campgrounds. Aside from the campground decorating contest\, all activities are open to campers and day-use visitors alike. For more information\, see the schedule below or call Kimberly Pedigo at 417-276-4259. \nEvent Schedule:\n\n\n\nActivity\nTime\nDescription\nRegistration Required?\n\n\nGoblin Games\n4-6 p.m.\nFamilies can participate in a variety of games such as cornhole\, washers\, sack races and tug-of-war. We will also host a doughnut-eating contest and provide crafts for families to do. All of these activities will take place near the showerhouse in the East Campground.\nNo\n\n\nCostume contest\n6 p.m.\nPrizes will be awarded for the three best costumes in each of the following categories: pet\, baby/toddler (0-3 years)\, kid (4-12)\, teens and adults (13 and up)\, and couples/pairs. The contest and the awarding of prizes will take place near the East Campground showerhouse.\nNo\n\n\nTrick-or-treating\n7 p.m.\nCampers and day-use visitors are invited to trick or treat through the campgrounds. Campers are encouraged to provide candy. Trick-or-treaters should bring something to collect candy.\nNo\n\n\nCampsite decorating contest\nJudging starts at 7 p.m.\nRegistered campers are encouraged to decorate their campsites for Halloween. A group of judges will score decorated campsites based on theme\, originality\, lights and attention to detail. Prizes will be awarded for top three sites. The announcement of winners will take place near the East Campground showerhouse at 8 p.m. \nALL PARK RULES STILL APPLY! Any violation of park rules\, such as nailing items to trees or buildings or damaging resources in any way\, will result in immediate elimination from the contest. Participants must register online before the event to be eligible for a prize.\nYes – Click the link in the description.\n\n\nJack-o’-Lantern Jamboree\nJudging starts at 7 p.m.\nBring your own carved or decorated pumpkin to the judging table near the check station by 7 p.m. There will not be separate categories for this competition\, and there is a limit of one entry per person. Prizes will be awarded for first\, second and third place. The announcement of winners will take place near the East Campground showerhouse at 8 p.m.\nNo\n\n\nBoogeyman BBQ\nJudging starts at 7 p.m.\nFire up the grill for a chance to win this tasty competition. Prizes will be given for each category of ribs\, chicken and burgers. You can sign up for one\, two or all three categories\, but you must register online before the event. \nJudging will be based on presentation\, taste and originality. There will be prizes for the top three contestants in each category. SUMMARY:First Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:1/1/2026 | Stockton State Park | Dadeville\, Mo.\nJoin park staff on the first day of the year for an invigorating hike on the North Loop of Sortor’s Bluff Trail. We will meet at the trailhead at 9 am. \nLocated in the southwest portion of the park\, Sortor’s Bluff Trail runs through one of the property’s most remote sections. It offers great views of the lake and plenty of opportunities to experience local wildlife\, including bald eagles. The northern section of the trail consists of a 3.3-mile loop with a 0.4-mile spur leading to a scenic overlook of the lake. The trail features natural surfaces and is considered moderately difficult. Hikers may encounter loose rocks\, slippery surfaces\, drop-offs\, and roots or downed vegetation. Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes\, dress for the weather\, and bring water and snacks. \nThis event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome\, but the trail is not accessible for strollers or wheelchairs. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. \nRegistration is required and can be completed using the link provided here. If the hike is canceled\, an announcement will be emailed to registrants and posted on the Park and Site Status Map. \nFirst Day Hikes are promoted by America’s State Parks and are held at parks across the country at the start of each year. SUMMARY:Full Moon Hike
DESCRIPTION:8/9/2025 | Stockton State Park | Dadeville\, MO\nJoin representatives from Stockton State Park and the Stockton Trails Initiative Coalition for a night hike under the full moon. \nThis guided hike will start in the northwest part of the park\, near the North Shelter and the baseball field. From there\, we will walk a short distance on Lakeview Trail before reaching Umber Ridge Trail\, a 1.6-mile loop. We will hike this loop in a clockwise direction\, stopping at the beach for a quick swim and a chance to bask in the moonlight. We will then complete the rest of the loop and return to the starting point via Lakeview Trail.   \nThis event is free and open to the public\, and there is no need to register. Participants should bring drinking water\, insect repellent\, water shoes and a towel. SUMMARY:Lakin' It Easy: Water Trail Paddle
DESCRIPTION:7/18/2026 | Stockton State Park | Dadeville\, Mo.\nJoin Missouri State Parks staff and Stockton Trails Initiative Coalition representatives for an exploration of Stockton State Park’s water trail. This free event will feature an optional kayaking instruction course followed by a kayaking tour on the lake. \nThe instructional portion of the event will begin at the Hartley Area Boat Launch at 9 a.m. It is designed for participants with little to no kayaking experience\, as well as experienced kayakers who are in need of a refresher. \nAt 10 am.\, we will begin paddling. We will start at the Hartley Area Boat Launch and paddle approximately 2 miles to the Highway 215 bridge\, where we will return to shore for lunch. You will have the option to either end your paddle at the bridge or paddle the remaining 4.5 miles to the marina. A shuttle will be available at both locations. \nThis event is limited to 25 participants aged 12 and older. Online registration is required. The park has 10 kayaks with paddles and personal flotation devices. You may either borrow equipment from the park or bring your own. If you would like to borrow equipment from the park\, you must indicate this when you register. Regardless of whether you bring your own equipment or borrow supplies from the park\, you must wear a personal flotation device while you are on the water.
