SUMMARY:First Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:1/1/2026 | Missouri Mines State Historic Site | Park Hills\, MO.\nJoin historic site staff for a guided hike on the site’s new Interpretive Trail and beyond. This easy 1-mile hike will include interpretation of historic mining structures and equipment and the long-term changes brought on by the lead industry. The trail features a mix of surfaces\, including gravel and pavement. Portions of the trail have steep slopes. The hike will begin at the site office/gatehouse. \nThis event is free\, open to the public\, and suitable for all ages. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather; wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes; and bring water and snacks. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. \nRegistration is required and can be completed using the link provided here. If the hike is canceled\, an announcement will be emailed to registrants and posted on the historic site’s Facebook page and the Park and Site Status Map. \nFirst Day Hikes are promoted by America’s State Parks and are held at parks across the country at the start of each year.
