DESCRIPTION:11/1/2025 | Felix Vallé House State Historic Site | Ste. Genevieve\, MO\nHistory is never just one story – it’s a collection of perspectives shaped by time\, experience\, and who gets to tell it. “Parallel Pasts: Two Sides to Every Story” takes you through the streets of Ste. Genevieve while uncovering local history from multiple viewpoints. This tour is being offered on four Saturdays in 2025: Oct. 4 and 18 and Nov. 1 and 15. \nEach tour begins at the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center and goes through the town’s historic district before ending back at the welcome center. There are several stops along the way\, including one at the Felix Vallé House. At each stop\, we’ll discuss how different people experienced events in different ways – and how our understanding has evolved over the years. \nThis free program is presented by Missouri State Parks in collaboration with the National Park Service. Registration is required\, and space is limited to 15 people per tour. Genevieve\, MO\nA brand-new traveling exhibit from the Missouri State Museum\, “Minerals Make Missouri\,” will be on display in the Shaw House at Felix Vallé House State Historic Site during the month of November. Through explorations of Missouri’s major minerals\, visitors will learn about the broad impact and varied history of the state’s mining industry\, as well as the roles played by the Missouri Geological Society and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in identifying\, mapping and using these minerals more sustainably. From limestone to cobalt\, the full richness of Missouri’s mineral resources will be on display. This exhibit is free and open to the public\, and there is no need to register.  \nThe Shaw House is located at 200 Merchant St. in Ste. Genevieve. Genevieve\, MO\nRevel in the spirit of an early Missouri French Christmas during Le Réveillon at Felix Vallé House State Historic Site. \nEvent Schedule:\n\n1-3 p.m. – Paper filigree with Lisa Palmer of Never Bored Creations LLC\n1-4 p.m. – Free tours of the lower level of the Felix Vallé House. The house will be decorated for the Christmas season.\n2-4 p.m. – Traditional dances performed by Dance Discovery\, a St. Louis-based dance troupe that performs historically authentic social dances from the 1600s to the present\n6-8 p.m. – Le Réveillon. Enjoy candlelit tours of the Felix Vallé House\, and experience Le Réveillon\, a traditional feast held after midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Interact with interpreters in period dress and enjoy special desserts\, including buche de Noel.\n\nThis event is part of Ste. Genevieve’s annual Holiday Christmas Festival\, which features events throughout the downtown area.
